Acoustic Strawbs - Live in Concert - 8pm - Friday 16th March
Acoustic Strawbs - Live in Concert - Friday16th March 2012 8:00pm at All Hallows Church in Gedling, Nottingham. The Strawbs are a rock band founded in 1964 which started out as a bluegrass group they eventually moved on to other styles such as folk rock, glam rock and progressive rock. They are best known for their hit Part of the Union which reached number two in the UK charts in 1973. Over the years they have undergone many changes in line up but at the core of the Band has always been its charismatic leader Dave Cousins. The idea of an Acoustic version of the band came about by accident in 1993 when an injury to Cousins’ wrist coinciding with a commitment with then band member Brian Willoughby brought Dave Lambert in to work with Cousins & Willoughby, which soon became Acoustic Strawbs. Since that time Brian Willoughby was replaced by Chas Cronk when Willoughby left in 2004. Chas has brought bass and bass pedals, which further add to the depth of the Acoustic Strawbs sound. The Acoustic Strawbs have recorded 3 albums so far and have toured all over Europe and America and now they will bring their distinctive sound to All Hallows Church in Gedling. The Band has not appeared in Nottingham for many years so it is a great coup to have them appearing at All Hallows. This promises to be a wonderful evening of great songs, great sound and a chance to get up close and personal with 3 very distinguished musicians. Look forward to seeing you there!
